Sydney Lynn (Morgan) Oliver, 48, passed from this life March 23, 2016. She was born October 27, 1967, to the late Jack and Dorothy (Howell) Morgan. She graduated from Tulsa Edison High School in 1985 and received her Bachelors Degree in Education from The University of Oklahoma. She then earned her Masters in Counseling from Northeastern State University. She appreciated teaching at St. Pius and Lee Elementary, but she found her home at Monte Cassino School, where she taught for most of 20 years.
Sydney had an amazing talent as a teacher and adored her students as they adored her. She had a passion for decorating, gardening, long walks outside, trips to the beach, and animals, especially her own chocolate lab, Abby, her sweet Brooke, and lovely Lucy the cat. She and her husband Mark, of 20 years, have two beautiful children, Mark III and Morgan, whom she was so proud of. She was an amazing mother and will continue to be a shining light that will guide them the rest of their lives.
She is survived by her husband, Mark; her two children, Mark III and Morgan Oliver; her mother and father-in-law, Mark and Judy Oliver; her sister-in-law, Kelli Oliver Lee; her nieces, Isabella and Vivianna Lee, and nephew, Denny Lee, III, all of Tulsa; her cousins, Robert Howell of Allen, TX, Dorothy Schenk of Yukon, OK, Jay Howell of Tulsa, Julie James of Flower Mound,TX, Janie Degnan of Austin, TX, and several other cousins.
We want to recognize Dr. Sean Doyle, Dr. Scott Cole, Dr. Lohrey and all the nurses who treated her at Tulsa Cancer Institute, as well as the ICU staff at St. John Medical Center. Sydney wanted to beat cancer but, more than that, she hated to be a burden to anyone. She complained of nothing and fought through the pain, showing her strength continuously. We would like to show our appreciation for all the outpouring of love, support and kind words that you have sent while her family is mourning the loss of such a beautiful, kind mother, wife, sister, teacher, and friend.
A Rosary will be held at Monte Cassino, Marian Chapel, at 7 pm, Sunday, March 27th. A Memorial Mass will be held at Christ the King Church, at 11 am, Monday, with a reception following at the Church.
