Obituary

Sylvia Minnie (Weise) Oberstein was 94 years old when she passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2016. She married the love of her life, Milton Oberstein, on April 30, 1944, and they enjoyed 44 years of marriage until his death, June 14, 1988.

Sylvia was born in Stonewall, Oklahoma, on January 30, 1922, to the late Belle and William Weise and was the third of five children. She was predeceased by her parents, by her husband, and her older brothers, Martin and Paul Weise.  She is survived by: her children, Paula and Lenny Holzband, David and Sarah Oberstein, Donna Oberstein and Dr. Ace Allen; her grandchildren, Adam and Jodi Holzband, Daniel and Veronica Oberstein, Ellie and Scott Rathjen, Molly Oberstein-Allen and Benjamin Allen; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Carrillo-Oberstein, Bess Maple Holzband and Margaux Joanne Rathjen; brother Albert Weise and his wife Elaine; sister Shirley Skalovsky and her husband Al, and sister-in-law Norma Weise.  Sylvia was deeply loved and will be missed by all of her large family, including nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Sylvia and Milton were owners of The Uniform Shoppe, were active members of Congregation B'nai Emunah, traveled on many wonderful trips, and played golf and bridge together for many years. She continued to play bridge, poker, mahjong, and canasta, read books and solve crossword puzzles until she passed away.

Her son David says "she was a tough game player, excellent poker player and had carded two holes in one!".

Sylvia was especially proud that she learned to use a cell phone, iPad and FaceTime when she was in her 90's!

Funeral services will be in Tulsa at Congregation B'nai Emunah on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, 12 Noon, followed by graveside services at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to Congregation B'nai Emunah, Tulsa Jewish Retirement & Health Care Center, or to a charity of your choice.
