Obituary

Terry Rosenthal, born June 12, 1952, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on April 2nd, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Terry was the beloved son of Charles and Sylvia Rosenthal (née Falk). From an early age, he followed in his father's footsteps, learning the pest control business from the ground up as a service technician before eventually becoming Owner, President, and Operator of Charles Pest Control. He took immense pride in carrying that legacy forward and in serving the Tulsa community with integrity and commitment for decades.

He grew up in Tulsa, graduated from Memorial High School, and went on to attend the University of Oklahoma. It was at Memorial High School, in the attendance office of all places, that Terry met the love of his life, Madelyn Parks. As the story goes, Terry went to the office to visit a sick classmate. Madelyn, who worked there, noticed him and quietly asked the secretary whether the classmate was his girlfriend, because she thought he was cute. The very next day, Terry returned to the attendance office just to strike up a conversation. Soon after, he drove over to Madelyn's parents' house in his dad's Plymouth Valiant, the family's pest control service vehicle, with his dog Brutus riding shotgun. The rest was history.

They were married in 1974 and shared 52 wonderful years together, building a life centered on faith, family, and community.

Terry's leadership extended well beyond business. He served as Past President of Tulsa Downtown Lions Club, Temple Israel, and the Temple Israel Brotherhood. He received the Amudim Award from Temple Israel - the congregation's highest honor, recognizing the "Pillars of the Temple" whose long-term dedication, service, and leadership have shaped the community.

After falling in love with his father's 1969 Dodge Charger, Terry became a proud and unwavering Mopar man. He never purchased anything outside the brand, and any debate on the subject was polite, but firmly, shut down. Saturdays in the fall were for Oklahoma Sooners football, Sundays for the Green Bay Packers, and any evening was perfect for watching Star Trek.

More than anything, Terry was deeply involved in the lives of his five children - Stephen, Douglas, Charles, David, and Jennifer. He treasured his time with them: camping trips, bar and bat mitzvah preparation, and the steady work of teaching them the value of camaraderie, fellowship, responsibility, and respect for the outdoors. Stephen and Douglas went on to become proud Eagle Scouts - an accomplishment that reflected the character and perseverance he worked so hard to model. As a skilled orator himself, he taught them the value of writing, eloquence, and presence. And finally, with considerably more patience, he taught them how to drive and care for their cars.

In the latter years of his life, Terry's greatest pleasure was chasing around his grandchildren -- and his grand dogs. He gifted them with his sense of playfulness, joy, and humor.

He is survived by his loving wife, Madelyn Rosenthal; his five children Stephen Rosenthal and wife Manj (daughter Sofia), Doug Rosenthal and wife Elaine (son Hudson, daughter Synclair), Charles Rosenthal and wife Rebecca (daughters Isabella and Eliana, son Leo), David Rosenthal, and Jennifer Rosenthal; and his brothers, Gary and Ferd Rosenthal. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Sylvia Rosenthal, and his brother, Stuart Rosenthal.

A graveside service for Terry will be held Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Memorial Park (4161 E. Admiral Place, Tulsa, OK 74115).

In lieu of flowers, donations in Terry's memory may be made to the Temple Israel Brotherhood or Tulsa Downtown Lions Club.
