Theresa (Terry) Lynn Trumbull Taverner, 62, bravely faced cancer for almost three years and passed away July 7, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Terry was born July 16, 1961, to loving parents, Ed and Sue Trumbull. She graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1979 and furthered her education with a Marketing Degree from Oklahoma State University in 1983. Terry always had a passion for fashion, marketing, and retail. At fifteen, Terry decided she needed a job and began working at Vandevers in the Juniors' Department. Upon graduating from OSU, she returned to Vandevers as a fashion buyer. Throughout her professional life, Terry continued to work as a retailer and marketer. While running the gift shop at Hillcrest Medical Center, she took on the role of scheduling and organizing the hospital volunteers-a task that brought her a great deal of joy. Terry most recently worked for Metro Appliances & More. The owners and employees at Metro, her work family, showered her with love and stood by her throughout her battle with cancer. Her family will always greatly appreciate and admire this fervent support.
Outside of her professional life, Terry's greatest passions were family, friends, and water. Terry's three children were the joy of her life. She was a devoted mother and a loving Mimi to her three grandchildren. She enjoyed opening her home and pool for holidays and gatherings, and she took responsibility for carrying on family traditions. An excellent baker and cook, she always replicated holiday recipes for extended family celebrations. She was also known to offer her home to people suffering hard times and often provided a safe space for friends in need. Terry was an excellent friend and cherished her longtime friendships with fellow members of the Hale graduating class of '79. Many of the best memories of Terry are of times shared at the lake, creek, or pool, listening to her favorite '70s tunes or country music.
Terry was lucky to spend five years with her loving and supportive partner, Rob Moore. Rob brought tender loving care to Terry and immediately became part of the family. Rob's devotion and optimism throughout Terry's battle with cancer was inspirational to all.
Terry is survived by her parents Ed and Sue; her loving "other half" Rob Moore; children Christine (husband, Andrew) Carter, Tyler (wife, Christina) Taverner, Garrett Taverner, and Sara Moore; grandchildren Alice, Hattie, and Walter Carter; siblings Eddie (wife, Kelly) Trumbull, Melissa (husband, Ken) Hess, and Laura (husband, Scott) Peasley. Terry is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins too numerous to name.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Church of the Madalene (3188 E 22nd St, Tulsa, OK <
