Obituary

LTC Thomas L. Gauldin (USAF Retired) passed away peacefully on February 21, 2019.  He was born on December 15, 1943 in Honey Grove, TX.  He graduated from North Texas State University in 1966, at which time he entered the US Armed Forces.  In 22 years of service, he flew helicopter gunships in Vietnam and the Boeing E3 AWACS until his retirement at Tinker AFB, OK in 1988.  His awards include the Distinguished Flying Cross with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Air Medal with 10 Oak Leaf Clusters.  After retirement he was hired by United Airlines, from which he retired as a Captain in 2003. He was also a private pilot and owned his beloved Cessna 182 for 42 years. Tom could be seen daily on his walks around the R.L. Jones/Riverside Airport in his University of Texas shirt, shorts, and cap. He will be remembered by all who met him for his dry humor and quick wit! He is survived by his wife, Lenora E. Gauldin; his son, Michael B. Gauldin and wife Samantha; two grandchildren, Jordan and Mila, and a brother, Richard M. Gauldin.  Graveside services are pending and will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Honey Grove, TX.  Memorials in Tom's name may be made to the Disabled American Veterans local Tulsa Chapter, 3131 E. Pine St., Tulsa, OK  74110 and to Clarehouse, 7617 S. Mingo Rd., Tulsa, OK  74133.
