Thomas "Tom" Russiello, age 74, of Bixby, OK passed away Monday evening, February 3, 2025. He was at home with his family.
Tom was born on November 27, 1950 in Pietramelara, Provincia di Caserta, Italy. Tom and his parents immigrated to the United States in 1954 and settled in Ellwood City, PA. Tom was raised in Ellwood City, which was where he met his high school sweetheart and future wife, Sandra "Sandy" Fitzgerald Russiello. Tom attended Penn State University in State College, PA, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. He and Sandy were married on September 23, 1972 and they had two sons, Thomas Russiello, Jr. and Marc Russiello. Tom worked as an electrical engineer for Phillips Petroleum Company for 28 years. Tom was an active member of the St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church in Tulsa, OK. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, serving two terms as Grand Knight for the St. Bernard of Clairvaux Council.
Tom loved being outdoors. His favorite color was green because of the beautiful green colors in nature. He enjoyed deer hunting with his best friend every fall, watching football (particularly the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Pittsburgh Steelers), and he was an excellent card player. Poker was his favorite, but he also enjoyed hearts and the Italian card game, scopa. Tom, affectionately known as "Poppy" by his four granddaughters, was happiest when he was spending time with his family, preferably at a beach in Florida.
Tom is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandy Russiello, his two sons and their families: Thomas and his wife, Sunnye Mayes, and their daughters, Madison Russiello, age 22; Sadie Russiello, age 20, and Tegan Russiello, age 10 of Canton, MI and Marc Russiello and his wife Jennifer Gompf Russiello and their daughter, Macie Russiello, age 10 of Bixby, OK. Tom is also survived by his sister Mary Russiello Teachout and her husband, Robert Teachout of Imperial, PA; his niece Megan Teachout Tyskowski, her husband Nicholas Tyskowski and their son, Cameron Tyskowski, age 6 months, of Chantilly, VA; his nephew Angelo Teachout and his wife Rebecca Stagg Teachout of Kennesaw, GA; and his niece Jocelin Teachout, of Alexandria, VA.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Angelo and Antoinetta Russiello of Ellwood City, PA. In lieu of flowers, the Russiello family is requesting donations to the American Cancer Society.
