Thomas (Tom) P. Shaw, 83, was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on Nov. 20, 1929 to Joseph and Argie (Richards) Shaw. He was the second of two sons. He died May 2, 2013 at Methodist Manor nursing facility in Tulsa. Tom lived in Tulsa most of his life and went to High School and Jr. College at Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore. He was commissioned into the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lt. and spent two years in Germany during the Korean War. After he was discharged, he attended the University of Tulsa and received a degree in Petroleum Engineering. He went to work for Sinclair/Arco Oil companies in 1958 and worked for them in Tulsa and Lindsay, Okla. until 1978 when he and his brother formed Shaw & Shaw Oil Co. They owned and operated a number of gas wells in the Lindsay area until they sold them 3 years ago.
Tom was a lifetime member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, American Independent Petroleum Association of America and Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
His parents and his brother Joe predeceased him.
He is survived by his best friend/care giver Wanza Cox, her son Steve Cox and wife Lola of San Jose, Ca; his sister-in-law Ann Shaw, Dallas; Wanza's sister Katie Rains of Monroe, La. Also cousins, Don Richards, McEuen, AR; Robert Richards and Ola Goodman of Beebe; AR; Tish Malden of McLoud, OK; Tanny Hash of Versailles, KY and John Shaw of Morristown, NJ
