To make a long story short...Tommy was proudly born and raised in Tulsa. A quick witted and athletic young boy, he attended Riverdale Country School in Bronx, NY for his last three years of high school. Hardly anything brought him as much joy as being with his life-long friends from Riverdale and recounting memories of his time there. He returned home to attend the University of Oklahoma to pursue a career in business. In his sophomore year, he met the girl who would make him happy the rest of his life, Peggy. For over 65 years of marriage, they set an example of what it means to truly find your soulmate. They are an inseparable couple that maintained the magic of adolescent love for the rest of their lives.
Joining his father in the family business, Tommy learned how to be an excellent businessman. In 1970, Tom became CEO and remained at the helm of his company for 54 years. As the oil industry waned in Oklahoma, Tom expertly pivoted Sitrin Petroleum into a powerful private investment firm, focusing on stock investments and real estate. He was instrumental in getting White Hawk Golf Club, the Bixby West Elementary and Intermediate School, and the surrounding homes built. In recognition, the Bixby City Council and Mayor awarded Tom a Certification of Appreciation for the impact he has had on the city of Bixby.
His greatest achievement is clearly the family that he created and provided for his whole life. He was an amazing father to his two children, Allison and Todd. He was so very proud of both of them. He was equally a wonderful Grandfather to his three grandchildren: Jamie, Lexi, and Sophie. He deeply loved his brother-in-law Chuck Wolf (who he considered to be his brother) and his family, his cousin Michael Katz (who he also considered his brother) and his family, his daughter-in-law Lori Sitrin, and his son-in-law Jeremy Warshaw. As the patriarch of the extended Sitrin family, he financially provided for dozens of relatives in their times of need and was always available to listen or provide guidance and support to all. Whether family or friend, he was always there for the people he loved.
Super smart, wickedly good Gin Rummy player, dry sense of humor, risk-taker, unmatched math skills, adventurous, generous, world-traveler, loving, caring. To those that knew him, he will be irreplaceable and deeply missed.
