Obituary

Timothy Kirk Bacon was born on October 19th, 1955 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and died on July 19th 2012.

Tim is survived by his mother, Jan Bacon of Houston, Texas; a brother, Lin Bacon of Tulsa and his children James and Alex; a sister Julie "Bacon" Miller of Houston, Texas and her husband David and children Allison, Davis and Meredith; and a host of Tim's close and loyal friends.

Tim graduated from Memorial High School in 1973 and attended Oklahoma State University shortly thereafter. He owned and operated his own concrete construction company up until his work efforts were cut short when he became disabled several years ago.

Tim was always fun loving, his smile was contagious, and he was incredibly humorous. He could easily make everyone in a room light up and laugh. Tim played softball with his friends from the Brookside Bar and went on many fishing trips that he really enjoyed. He loved nature and cooking and eating outdoors.

Tim suffered from a rare auto-immune skin disease which progressed over the years. He endured many surgeries, drugs and cancer treatments. Through it all, he kept his sense of humor with incredible strength and a will to live. The disease caused him to become permanently disabled 5 years ago. About a year and a half ago, he was diagnosed with squamous cell throat cancer. His mother, Jan, lovingly cared for Tim through the last years of his life. When Tim first became disabled, he volunteered at Catholic Charities coat drive, and, although it was difficult for him, he did it because he "wanted to give back".

Tim was a proud American and a fan of Ronald Reagan. He was a huge fan of NASCAR, John Wayne, Pontiacs with 455's, his brother's Oldsmobile 442, Triumph motorcycles and fast driving with his Dad. He was considered a "Wheel Man" by most of his friends because he was a great driver of cars or motorcycles. Tim LOVED fishing, Grand Lake, his Mama's cooking, The Johnny Carson Show, all kinds of music, boxing, making breakfast, golf, OSU football and his three dogs….all named "Ramsey"…(after the infamous street in Stillwater that so impacted his life.)

Even through his illness and last days, Tim managed to have a positive outlook on life, a wry sense of humor, and could still somehow laugh and make others laugh.

His memorial service was 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel.
