Obituary

Tommy (Tom) Ray Giles, 86, passed from this life on Monday, October 23, 2023.
He was born July 15th, 1937 to parents Sullivan Henry Giles and Bonnie Belle (Forbis) Giles in Holdenville, Oklahoma.

Tom attended Holdenville High School and later joined the U.S. Army where he served as staff sergeant.
He married Sharon Sue (Tucker) Giles on May 11th, 1957 in Wewoka Oklahoma. After his military commitment, he joined Wacker's Variety Store Inc. and moved his family to West Texas where he served as the manager for several stores in the area. He and Sharon moved their family to Jenks in 1971, again as the manager of the new Wacker's store that opened there.

He enjoyed working in the variety store business and after owning an OTASCO store for several years, he went to work for TG&Y and then at Wal-Mart/Sam's Club where he retired after thirty years of employment.

He loved to travel, and he and our mom took us on many fantastic vacations around this great country during our childhood. In his later years, Teri and Darryl would take him on trips and he enjoyed them all. He was always up for a road trip and would always say that his bags were packed and ready, no matter where we were going.

He had four grandsons who he loved dearly and would be at every baseball and football game cheering loudly from the stands for each one of them. He always had a joke or smart aleck remark for them and would revel in their laughter.

He also had three great granddaughters who he loved and cherished dearly. Since he was so tall, they always wanted to be in his arms so that they could see what was going on and he would beam proudly while holding them. He was their GG Pop!

He enjoyed working through the genealogy of his family tree and travelled to many places in search of more information on family members near and far. He has collected much research for us to continue with and for that we are grateful.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Sharon, brother Robert Giles and wife Retha and niece Vicki Giles all of Holdenville, Oklahoma

He is survived by two daughters, Teri R. Laux and husband Darryl T. Laux and grandson Michael T. Laux, all of Broken Arrow; Kimberly S. Agent of Jenks, grandsons, Tommy J. Agent and wife Nicole D. of Bixby, and their daughters, Joie Michelle Driver and Austyn Rose Agent; Jason L. Agent of Jenks and his daughter Scarlett Ember Marie Agent; and Dustin W. Tibbens of Jenks.

He is survived by cousin, Mary Jane Norville of Hico, Texas. He is also survived by niece, Tammi Giles of Holdenville and nephew Rick Giles and wife, Paula of Bethel Acres; Brother-in-law Herman Tucker of Madill and Brother-in-law Clyde Tucker and wife Barbara of Yukon.
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
