Vernon Doyle Atkins Jr. began his journey on Sept 26th 2020, raised in Tulsa and then graduated from Union High School in 1979. He attended Tulsa Barber College and was a master barber for over 20 years. He was a Fancy dancer and a champion cutting horse rider. He enjoyed his retirement with his loving wife, his children and grandchildren in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where he made his home.

Vernon is preceded in death by his father Vernon Doyle Atkins Sr., mother Billie Maxine Shawnee-Atkins, and sister Lena Scott.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 32 years, Ronita "Dondi" Atkins; his children, Bradley Barnett of Missouri, Amanda Jumper of Tahlequah, Will Atkins of Tahlequah, and Billie Atkins-Vasquez and her husband Bill Vasquez of Tahlequah; his pride and joy, his grandchildren, Nakilah Soap, Clark Pepper III, Maxine Vasquez, Christian Vasquez, Caden Barnett, and Emery Barnett; his sister Pauline Tsosie of Claremore; nieces and nephews, Jessica, William, Jennifer, and Vernon Tsosie; and great nieces and nephews, Nazhoni, Minnie, Lena, Ashkii, and Christopher Tsosie.

He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.
