Our dear husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Virgil Leo Greenfield, passed on from this life on May 16, 2023, peacefully, with family around him. He was born on May 13, 1941, in Tryon, Oklahoma, to Bennet and Leona Greenfield.
He loved his family and fought a good fight to stay with us.
After his father died when he was 2, he and his mother and two brothers moved to the Sand Springs Widow's Colony. He graduated from Sand Springs High School in 1959, the last year it was known as that, before it became Charles Page High School. There, he played football and ran track.
After high school, Virgil worked as an electrician and eventually got his electrical contractor's license and started his own company, Greenfield Electric.
He loved to golf and fish, to be with family, and go on family vacations. He loved to go to Stefanie's softball games. He enjoyed going to the horse races win or lose (usually lose), but always won whatever board game he was playing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Floyd Toles; his brothers, Vernon Greenfield and Jackie Greenfield; a nephew, Vernon Greenfield Jr.; his mother-in-law, Juliene DeBakey; and his beloved dog, Dude.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lana (LK); his daughter and son-in-law, Kelley and Ted Martin; his son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Maria Greenfield; and his daughter and son-in-law, Stefanie (Stuffy) and Carey Faber; his grandchildren, Eric Blake and wife Catalina; Holly Mills and husband Frank; Nicole (Nickel) Bippus and husband Steven; Cody (Code-man) Greenfield; Liam Virgil Faber and Lennon Faber; three great-granddaughters and one on the way; three great-grandsons; nieces and a nephew; his best friend of sixty years, Don Andrews; and many family members and friends.
