Obituary
Virginia (Mitchell) Martin was born on July 19, 1935, in Newark, NJ, to Russell and Mary (DeGroff) Mitchell. She passed away on January 19, 2011.
Her three-year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) was marked, not by tears or self-pity, but instead by an unconquerable spirit of love, dignity and grace. She met this challenge head-on with a wonderful sense of humor and demonstrated what it means to truly live.
Virginia is survived by her sons, Geoff Hocutt (Cathy) and Greg Hocutt (Peggy), daughter Susannah Adelson (Jim), and many loving grandchildren.
The family would like to give two thumbs-up to Virginia's many friends and caregivers over the last several months for their companionship, love and committed care.
A Memorial Service and celebration of her life will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 22, 2011, at Trinity Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association/ALS, 3015 E. Skelly Dr., Tulsa, OK 74105. Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel 585-1151.
