Virginia Lee "Mimi" Brockmeier, 98, of Tulsa died on January 8, 2013. She was born October 18, 1914 in Atoka County, Oklahoma, daughter of Lark Anderson Wilson and Mary Ellen (Swindell) Wilson. She graduated with honors from Atoka High School in 1932.
On March 27, 1932 she married Carl Brockmeier. He predeceased her on October 2, 1946.
In Atoka, while Virginia was a member of the FMC, she was a charter member of the Women's Society of Christian Service, serving as secretary, then president, and was awarded life membership at age 27. Virginia was appointed the to the Board of Stewards as one of the first two women to serve, and was active in choir and the children's Sunday School department. During World War II, Virginia worked with the Red Cross and the USO, Cub Scouts and the Verbena Garden Club of Atoka.
After moving to Tulsa in 1947, Virginia was employed by the Refinery Engineering Company as PBX and Receptionist and named "Employee of the Month" in 1954. When the Tulsa office was closed in 1960, she worked at Standard Industries in the same capacity for 12 years. Standard moved their offices from downtown Tulsa, so she was hired by HTB, where she worked until retirement in 1983.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl, son Carl W., and siblings: Helen Dalton, Marguerite Welcher, Estelle Highfill, Raymond Wilson, Roy Wilson, Floyd Wilson. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Virginia Brockmeier of Tulsa; Granddaughter Carla Lee Mathis and her husband, Michael, of Oklahoma City; granddaughter Patricia Ann Evans and her husband Tracy of Richardson, Texas; great-granddaughters, Jessica, Alexandria and Kathleen; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 10, 2012, 3:00-5:00 p.m., at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel. Funeral Services will be Friday, January 11, 2013, at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel. Interment will follow at Park Grove Cemetery, Broken Arrow.
