Wanda Mae Harmon passed away January 29, 2015, in Houston, Texas. She was 77 years old. Born Wanda Mae Bouch in Altoona, PA., on October 6, 1937, Wanda was raised by her parents, Clifford and Madeline Bouch. In 1957 she married William (Bill) Joseph Harmon, also of Altoona. Soon after, the couple moved to Carson, CA., where they raised their children, Susan and Michael. In 1976, Bill's job took the family to Tulsa, OK. After Bill passed away in 1984, Wanda became involved first as a volunteer and then as an employee with the City of Tulsa and the Tulsa Police Department. She was very devoted to her work and greatly admired the Police Department all of her life. After her retirement from the City of Tulsa in 2007, Wanda moved to The Woodlands, TX, to be closer to family. Wanda was also a passionate crafter, always with a crochet hook or a pair of knitting needles in hand, and her family often joked that her craft room in her home looked like a yarn store. She used all of that yarn for good; women and children that have fallen on hard times all over Houston have been kept warm by the afghans she donated to them. Wanda is survived by her sister Sondra (Sonny) Lehman (Bill); her children, Susan Maxwell (Greg) and Michael Harmon (Kati); her granddaughters Taryn Peine (Drew) and Lesley Timpe (Kevin); and her great-grandchildren Amelia Peine, Henry Peine and Wyatt Timpe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Noel and Clifford and Madeline Bouch; her beloved husband, Bill; and all of her treasured cats and dogs. A graveside service honoring Wanda's life will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Tulsa, OK, on February 9, 2015, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tulsa Police Officers' Memorial via check to:
