William Henry Dinehart III, 78, peacefully died surrounded by his loving family on August 27, 2018 at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His funeral service will be held this Friday, August 31 at 11:00am at Christ Church Episcopal in Tulsa, Oklahoma.William was born on February 9, 1940 in Hudson, New York. He went to Hamburg High School in Hamburg, New York and then went to Union College in Schenectady, New York to earn a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. William worked around the country for Eastman Kodak from 1962 to 1992 and even received a patent for a medical product involving xrays. After his professional career, he opened a home repair fix-it company. He found this new business to be extremely gratifying and was often referred to as, "Mr. Fix It". After retirement, he began to donate his time around the community and at his church providing wonderful support. An important part of his community in the last years was his participation and contributions with Navigators, an organization that supports community members with Alzheimer's.He often described his biggest highlight in life was when he met his love. In 1976, he met Barbara and had many decades of a loving, beautiful marriage. They renewed their vows throughout their marriage with the most recent ceremony in 2017. They shared the most special, compassionate, love story for over 40 years. William was very proud of his marriage, children and family. He donated his body to United Tissue Network for medical research and educational training. His dream was to see a cure for Type I diabetes as he was diagnosed at the age of 10. He was very fortunate to live a long and fulfilling life as a diabetic, he encouraged fellow diabetics as well.William loved to live life to the fullest. He was passionate about music and played in a folk band. He enjoyed playing tennis with his amazing wife, sailing, and was even a member of the National Ski Patrol team. He loved antique car restorations and spent many hours rebuilding and driving his MG's. His fondness for searching out the next greatest craft beer and sharing it with others was one of his greatest joys. He was known and loved for his sense of humor and making people laugh. William is survived by the following family members: His adoring wife, Barbara Dinehart. Two daughters, Jennifer Strawniak and Jill Wood, and their loving family. Brother Jim and his wife Diane and their three children and grandchildren. Sisters-in-laws, Lana, husband, Bob Bianchini, and Melanie Holder and their families. And countless amazing friends and caregivers that loved and cared for him up to his final hours. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Juvenile Diabetes Research Association, Seasons Hospice, or Christ Church Episcopal, in celebration and memory of this awesome man.
