William Joseph Doyle, III passed away January 6, 2023, at the age of 84. Bill, as he as was known, was born on January 28, 1938, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to William J. Doyle, Jr. and Sue C. Doyle.
Bill grew up in Tulsa and graduated from Cascia Hall Preparatory School where he played football. He later graduated from the University of Oklahoma, where he was in the ROTC and a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. While at OU, he met and later married Julia "Judy" Broach of Oklahoma City in 1960.
He received his law degree from the University of Tulsa in 1963 and passed the Bar in both the states of Oklahoma and in Michigan. Bill also served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain in 1966.
In Tulsa, Bill was president of The Tulsa Club, and an active member of Southern Hills Country Club, the Oklahoma Bar Association, the Tulsa Boy's Home Board of Directors and more. He practiced law for over 50 years as a partner of the Jones, Givens, Gotcher, Brett, Doyle & Bogan law firm, and later practiced with Hal Salisbury of Doyle & Salisbury. Among other awards, Bill received the Oklahoma Bar Association's award for Outstanding Pro Bono Services in 2013.
Bill is survived by his wife Judy and their son Bill IV and his wife Tamela Doyle of Tulsa; daughter Lynne and her husband Charles "Chip" Thompson of Basking Ridge, New Jersey; and son Matthew and his wife Alice Doyle of Tulsa. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Bill V and his wife Annie Doyle; Catherine Doyle, Caroline Doyle and her fiance Connor LeClair; Will and Aidyn Thompson; and McCaleb, Mary Alice, and Madalynne Doyle; and Bill's brother Anthony and his wife Claudia Doyle.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 6pm at St. Rita's Chapel, Cascia Hall, immediately followed by a Rosary service at 7pm. The funeral Mass will be Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 11am at The Church of St. Mary at 1365 E. 49th Place, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74105.
