Obituary

William "David" Swartz , age 68, died on March 6th, 2025, in Tulsa, OK.
David was born on July 6th, 1956 in East Orange, New Jersey, to parents William Granville Swartz and Mary Jordan Swartz. He graduated from Cascia Hall Preparatory School in the class of 1975, and then attended Regis University and University of Colorado Boulder, before completing his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at The University of Tulsa. David worked for Cities Service oil company with his father, Bill, for a few years before accepting a position with NORDAM, a Tulsa aerospace company where he worked for over 25 years. On December 28th, 1981, he married Michele Lafortune Swartz, and they made their home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He had two children, daughter Mary Michele, and son Daniel Jordan. After the passing of his first wife Shelly in September 2010, David married Kari Bell Swartz in January 2016 and was able to live a happy, comfortable life for well over a decade after his retirement, with years in both Taos, New Mexico and Vero Beach, Florida in addition to his life in Tulsa.
David was deeply devoted to family and friends for the entirety of his life, and never had a shortage of loved ones to surround himself with. He always had a deep love for music, especially the Grateful Dead, with whom he developed a very special bond and spent many years looking forward to the next show with some of his closest friends. He enjoyed many family vacations, often up to the lake house on Monkey Island, and so much great food, frequently provided by his own hand from his trusted Webers or Hasty Bake. His family and friends will always remember him as an incredibly strong, but also gentle and deeply caring person who always made sure his people were taken care of.
He is survived by wife, Kari Bell Swartz, daughter, Mary Swartz and son-in-law, Zac Davis, son, Jordan Swartz, and stepdaughters Sherah Icenogle, and Savannah Delaney.
He is preceded in death by father, Bill Swartz, mother, Mary Swartz, brother, Danny Swartz, and wife, Shelly Swartz.
A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 1 pm on Saturday, March 15th, at St. Mary's Church, followed by reception and celebration of life at The Colony at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers the family would like to ask for donations to Susan G. Komen for breast cancer research in honor of his daughter Mary.
