Wilma Jo Shawnee Wyatt, much beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, surrounded by her children.
Wilma was born on June 25, 1935, in Quapaw, Oklahoma. She graduated from high school in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and went on to work as a civil servant at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, Oklahoma. It was there she met the love of her life, Raymond Wyatt, to whom she was married for 37 years.
She loved her role of homemaker, raising two children, and was very active in their lives. She was an avid sports fan of the Oklahoma Sooners, the Dallas Cowboys and the OKC Thunder.
Wilma was preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymond; parents, William and Mary Shawnee; brothers, Jerome and Charles Shawnee; sisters, Maxine (Boots), Billy, Pauline, One Mae and Bobbie.
She is survived by daughter Raye Hill and husband Lyndl, of Tuttle, OK, and their daughters Ashley and Hannah; as well as son Dr. Tom Wyatt and wife Karen, of Minneapolis, MN, and their children, Sofia, Stella, Jack, and Alexa; and many nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank her caregivers Mae, Machelle, Jasmin and Jessica, as well as the nursing staff Jana, Darcey and Kirsten, of TruHeart Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, friends may remember Wilma with memorial donations to the William Hall Shawnee Endowment Fund at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine.
A viewing will be held at the Quapaw Tribal Longhouse from 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2026, until breakfast at sunrise, on Wednesday, April 29th. Wilma will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Sunny Lane Cemetery, in Del City, Oklahoma.
